| In
accordance with the core value of Hospital Authority (Hospital
Authority 1994), we, oncology nursing professionals believe
client-centered service is our primary goal of care and
we dedicate to the provision of high quality of care to
patients with cancer, their families and the community
we serve. The practice of oncology nursing involves prevention,
detection, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care.
We believe cancer patients and their families are unique
with individual needs. We uphold cancer patients should
empowered with adequate information and support in the
decision-making process. In this way, we acknowledge
the right for cancer patients and their families to
be well informed of the disease, treatment, prognosis
and care. Thus we, oncology nurses are patients and
families advocates and incorporate the collaboration
with other health care disciplines to provide personalized
patient care in a holistic approach. We also coordinate
with community to provide continuity of care and support
services. We dedicate the care to relieve distressing
symptoms and to promote comfort for patients in their
cancer trajectory. We strive for the belief that cancer
patients should live with quality and die with dignity.
We encourage and support the advancement of oncology
nursing practice through the participation of continuing
professional development. We also pursue to provide
quality care through evidence-based practice.
